OBS client acquitted of rape after re-trial

20 August 2017

A client of Old Bailey Solicitors was acquitted by a jury at Lewes Crown Court (sitting in Hove) last week of an allegation of rape made against him by his former partner.

OBS Director and leading advocate, David Osborne, conducted the Defence case over the course of the 3 1/2 day trial.  This was David's second jury acquittal in a serious sex case in the last week.

This was a serious allegation with incredibly serious repercussions for the client, had he been convicted.  The client had strenuously denied the allegation throughout the case and during the course of two trials, the first having resulted in a hung jury.

Lesley Fleming conducted the litigation work in this case.  This is the third of three serious case acquittals secured in Lesley's cases in the last week.  Click here for details of the first and second cases.
