Tim joined our Surrey office in April 2017 and has specialised in Criminal Defence work since qualifying as a Solicitor in September 2009 and has been working within Criminal Defence profession since 2007.
He regularly appears at Magistrates Courts and Police Stations across Surrey and the surrounding counties to represent clients accused of the full range of offences from shoplifting to murder. As well as dealing with the early administrative hearings before the Court, Tim conducts trial proceedings for his clients. Recent successes at trial include a psychological defence for failing to provide a specimen for analysis following an allegation of driving whilst under the influence of drugs and a factual dispute where the defendant was accused of assaulting his former partner.
Tim has a special interest in offences pertaining to the supply of controlled drugs. He is able to advise clients about the Police’s forensic analysis of the substances themselves and their mobile phone data pertaining to messages exchanged or cell site analysis. He has dealt with numerous cases of defendants accused of “cuckoo-ing” where it is alleged they have taken over a drug users address and have been supplying drugs from those premises.
Tim also represents an increasing number of clients accused of committing offences in a domestic context. The definition of “domestic context” has been widened in recent years and Tim assists clients at the Police Station and Court for these matters. He is able to advise about Domestic Violence Protection Notices & Orders and the consequences of breaching those orders. Tim is also a skilled negotiator and has been able to obtain acquittals for clients with agreeable Restraining Orders being put in place to assist all parties going forward.
In 2015 Tim was awarded his Higher Rights of Audience so that he can represent client’s at the Crown Court and above and has most notably been junior counsel for a multiple defendant sex trafficking case. At this stage, Tim is focussing his attention on the Magistrates Court but has an interest in pursuing this path further in the future.
