OBS client acquitted of attempted murder

A client of Old Bailey Solicitors was acquitted of attempted murder by a jury at Lewes Crown Court today.

Our client was successfully defended by Rhodri James of 23 Essex Street Chambers

The client, looked after throughout the case by senior solicitor Rod Hayler, had been on remand in prison since his arrest in July this year.  He had called the police himself after an incident at home with his wife and had always admitted the offence of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.  However, the police and Crown Prosecution Service had opted to charge him with the far more serious offence of attempted murder and so the case took a further 4 months to resolve.

The client had pleaded guilty to the ABH offence at the outset of trial and received an 8 month sentence today, meaning he was released from custody immediately.
